Man, talk about luck! We just happened to be in town for this amazing performance.
Somebody else (sorry, I've forgotten who) saw it our first night in Bilbao and
raved about it the next day. I caught the second night. The show is a mixture
of ballet, acrobatics and incredible props. The troupe is called Gravedad Cero
('Zero Gravity'); they performed seven numbers, set to the pre-recorded strains
of Holst's The Planets. What you're seeing here is the Teatro Arriaga, a gorgeous
old theater that provided a dramatic setting for a dramatic show. This is the
actual lighting, by the way, not my usual trickiness. The streets all around
the theater were packed solid. Due to the late summer sunset, and being on Spanish
Standard Siesta Time, the show didn't start until 11 p.m. I really regret not
getting my flash to work properly this night, but I did eke out out a few nice
natural light shots.
